A Day in My Life

Hey!

I hope you all have had a great Thursday.

I had no idea what to talk about today so I thought I would just let you have a play by play of my day.

You ready? It is a little scary :)

This was Tuesday night.... Setting my alarms for Wednesday.

Yes, I set a lot of alarms - I don't like getting up.

Time I went to sleep.

Time I got up on Wednesday.

I spend about thirty minutes or so reading the blogs and drinking my first spark.

Then I document for a couple of hours while Mike & Mike on ESPN is on.
Not only is my hubs a coach but I am a sports nerd. #truth

One of my favorite things about working from home is getting to take breaks to do some household chores. I folded a load of clothes and washed dishes.

Then it was back on the road.

I was headed to Georgetown first.

Then I was off to UT.

Parking was CRAZY! Not going to lie, driving in a big city stresses me OUT!

At a certain point I called Ad crying and wanting to come home because I couldn't find the parking garage.

But I finally did and made it to the School of Social Work.

I went to watch a screening of Moment to Moment: Teens growing up with FASD
{Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders}

You can find the trailer HERE

It was so good! Sadly, a lot of the children we work with have FASDs - so getting to hear from experts in this field was great.

Sadly it was rather late by the time I left.

I think I was outside of Austin at this point.

Stopped at Sonic in Lampasas to get me a drink.

Time I got home.

Then cuddled with my guy and compared our tans.
#Idon'thaveatan

We watched the new season of Suits.
#greatshow

Finally off to bed!

Wednesday was a super long day. Some days aren't that late but at least once a week my life looks just like that. And during the whole day I am on the phone with families, emailing, and attempting to help my families.

Then there are days where I just sit at my desk and see this mess......

Tonights plan while the hubs is out fishing, is clean up my "office" and watch the NBA draft.

Last thing I promise!

How great would it be for LaMarcus Aldridge to come to the Spurs!

I am hoping this happens.

Because remember:

GO SPURS GO!

Waiting on Wednesday: Waiting on Home

It is Wednesday so that means I will be linking up with Holly for Waiting on Wednesday.

On Saturday while Ty and I were driving to Waco the song "Home" by Philip Philips came on.

This song came out at just the right time. I had never moved in my life until Ad got his first coaching job.  I listened to this song over and over. I prayed and prayed that I would find my "home" in this new chapter of life.

I am not going to lie it was hard to move away from all I have ever known. My small town of 835 people, was all I had ever experienced.  My family is there and all of my friends and I was scared to leave them.

To make it worse we "officially" moved on my birthday!

Just hours before we left I was eating my "birthday cake" also known as my gran's fruit pizza.

That whole summer I was in Amarillo in training for my job and would come home on the weekends and we would pack stuff but we did not get moved in to our home until August 4th.

This was us all packed in the truck leaving Rising Star.
{I might have cried}

The move was hard on me. There were many nights when I would cry while Ad was gone to practice and just feel lonely. I did not know anyone and it was even harder because I am not a teacher and get to meet other teachers during inservice, like Ad did.  I also worked out of town and in a very stressful job. I felt like no one understood.

My husband is very outgoing and can talk to anyone, me not so much. I am a worrier by nature and for the first couple of months I was so scared about what people thought of me and how I was fitting in. It is crazy, I know.

This stance happened often.

First ever football game to coach.

It was also hard attending the first couple of football games and sitting by myself, because I did not know anyone. Thankfully I made some good friends in the other two coach's wives. Thankfully there were other amazing people I became good friends with. It just took time.

I loved our time at our old school and become to love so many people there. I will always be thankful for those people!

Now looking back on this time, I believe the Good Lord had a plan to help me overcome some of my weaknesses. I defiantly had to learn to be more outgoing and making an active effort to get to know people.

I was finally starting to feel 100% comfortable in where I was and making friends and then BAM! We move again. That whole decision will have to be a post for another time. But we were not planning on moving but it is not our plan it is all God's plan.

I felt like this second move was a little easier but it was still hard. I did make friends faster and got comfortable faster.

Thankfully I had the "C" family here that was at the other school with us. Already knowing someone really helped this transition.

The "C" family.

If we had not listened and trusted in the Lord's plan then we would not have got to have time with this girl.

So when the song "Home" came on it brought back all the struggles that I felt during the first year of being a coach's wife.

I hope everyone no matter if they are currently moving, getting ready to move, or have lived in the same town for 10 years, feels as if they are at Home.

Just remember to trust in His plan and He will always be Home.

Summer of Service: Week 3 ~ Words are Powerful

Hey!

I hope you all had a great Monday.

Today I am talking about the Summer of Service Project that Holly at While I'm Waiting has been hosting.

This week's prompt was Words are Powerful.

Some of the ideas were to place random notes of encouragement.

This week was a great week for me for this as we were on vacation.

I left these notes around our cabin when we left.

This week's prompt is donate. You can find some of Holly's great ideas HERE

One place to donate that is super close to my heart is your local Child Welfare Board. I was an investigator for CPS and removed children. The Child Welfare Board provides new clothes, blankets, shoes, toys, etc. for children they go into foster care without anything.

I hope you will join in on the summer of service project.

I look forward to hearing what places you are going to be donating to.

Weekend Wrap Up: Father's Day

Happy Monday!

I hope y'all all had a great Father's Day weekend with your loved ones.

Friday was my first day back to work and man was it crazy busy! I still have more to do today.

Friday morning I headed to the Post Office and I felt like we were gone for a year with all the mail we had.

We then picked tomatoes on Friday night and worked in the yard.

We have tons of tomatoes!

Our plan is to make salsa & we are going to try to make pasta sauce.

Saturday Ty and I had a girls day in Waco!

We ate lunch at BJ's Brewhouse.

For some reason this is the only picture I took :(

Ad's dad did post these pictures on Facebook of their fishing trip.

I love this guy!

This is one thing he could do ALL day!

Sunday morning Ad and I headed to R Star in time for Church with my family.

Then we headed to Underwood's in Brownwood to celebrate my pop!

Yummy!

My pop is the most amazing man I have ever known!

I am so blessed that I am his granddaughter. He has always been my number one supporter.

My pop had a really bad accident when I was one years old and lost part of his left arm. My pop told me a while back that during the minutes that he was walking to find help after his arm was severely injured, he kept praying and asking God to just let him live to see his granddaughter graduate college and get married. My pop is such a strong and incredible man!

He has now seen me graduate and walked me down the aisle at my wedding. I look forward to many many more years with this guy!

Sunday was also my gran & pop's 51st wedding anniversary.

On the left is my gran at 20 and my pop at 18 on their wedding day.
On the right is my gran & pop on my wedding day.

I could write a book about these two and the way they make my life great.

Last year we had a 50th wedding anniversary party for them.

This was last year at their party with all of their grandkids.

This has to be my favorite picture of me and gran.

I hope you all have a great Monday!

By far one of my favorites this week was getting home and seeing this letter.

Andrea did a post a while back about making cards with her children to send to kids who are hospitalized. This touched my heart and I wanted to do it!
